Partnered with a Foundation Color Me A Cure (CMC), Pro-Cure Art is negotiating with the government of Uzbekistan implementation of an art therapy project at a pediatric cancer hospital in the capital city Tashkent. PCA and CMAC are combining efforts to establish the first pediatric oncology art therapy project in Uzbekistan, and in Central Asia region at large. The effort key objectives are:
To introduce the concept of art therapy to clinical oncology.
To train the trainers in culturally adapted methods of art therapy.
To establish a permanent art therapy program at the hospital.
The program will be named after late Shahzoda Shavkatova - an artistically talented nine-year old girl who attended every PCA art session in September 2014. Shahzoda lost her battle with cancer later that year, but the legacy of her talent will live on with the upcoming program.
